Monument is a pleasant community of about 5,000 people located about fifteen miles north of Colorado Springs. We are only about 45 miles south of Denver, and many Monument residents make the commute to Denver or Colorado Springs to work each day.

Monument is a small town but has grown quite a lot in the past 10-20 years such that a number of national retailers and restaurants have opened in the area, making shopping for many items much more convenient that it was in years past.

Monument has become well known in recent years for its parade each 4th of July, and many people like to come and show their children what a small town American July 4 parade used to look like.

Monument straddles the Palmer Divide, which is a rise in elevation between Colorado Springs to the south which is at about 6,000 feet of elevation at the foot of Pike’s Peak, and Denver which is of course the mile-high city. The elevation at the top of Monument hill on Interstate 25 is about 7,300 feet. Because of this unique terrain there are some local microclimates, and Monument can get a fair amount of precipitation. In the winter we will get about 3-4 times the amount of snow that Colorado Springs gets, and they are only 15 miles to the south. The summers stay relatively cool and are especially pleasant. As a state, Colorado gets over 300 days of sunshine per year, so even in the winter we experience a lot of sunny and comfortable days in Monument.
